I originally learned how to come up with fabrications when I was playing wow. I was waiting for Alterac Valley to start. Sometimes we discuss our plan to beat the Horde, but on this particular day we decided to discuss our statistics. It started out with everyone saying their, race, class and realm. For example I would say ‘Gnome, Mage, Terenas ‘. Not really sure if a player said his real stats to be funny but out of no where he said he was ‘Male, 5’10 200lbs’. Not thinking I said my stats which were ‘female 5’2 122 pounds (54kgs)’. It became apparent that my stats were unique enough to capture the attention of the group. One kind fellow raider asked me to give my ‘real stats’. In order to satisfy the status quo. I said that I was instead a ‘male ‘5’8 300 pounds’, which of course garnered more acceptance. As the fellow raider replied ‘that’s better leva’
That led to my continued made up persona. Until one day in guild chat. We were talking about life. I’m not really sure but somehow they picked up I was female. In order to prevent further pestilence. I reminded my fellow guildies that I was ‘5’3 at 300 pounds’. That was an important day, as I learned if you want people to stop. You have to make yourself average and boring. My guildies basically said I wasn’t 300 pounds and blah blah blah.
Next time you hear someone talk about a gnome mage. Ask them why they would talk about 300 pound dude living in his parents basement
